@34:10 .... Once that volume is determined, you can rule out the two wrong answers by simply 'rounding' the volume and the gallon per volume. First simply round up to 10 and 7.5 gal (which would give 75 gallons), then round down to 9 and 7 (which would give 63 gallons). You can simply compare these estimates with the answers to see that the first two answers are ruled-out, because both or your estimates of 75 and 63 are above 59 and 37 (making them impossible to be correct)..... The important thing is that you avoided the long multiplication step, with two very simple multiplication estimates (10 x 7.5, and 9 x 7). This can't always be done , but here it can be. In these aptitude tests, if you can't use a calculator, strategy can become important.

@24:25 .... Look at #12 (skipped): the answer appears to be 40.625, or 40 and 5/8, which is not one of the answers listed. Is this right?

I took initiative to solve #12 (3 1/4 * 12 1/2) from the 26:20 minute mark. The answer is 40 5/8 and this guide doesn't have an answer for it. I even looked the answer up after doing it on scratch paper and it's correct. Is this guide wrong or am I missing a step? The answer is definitely 40 5/8.

27:19 number 17. Tan(360) hope that isnt on the test cus i aint ever been taught how to answer this without a calculator and u skipped it lol im assuming the answer is 1 and Tan is representative of degrees in a circle so 360/360=1 thats what i figure from the answers given but as shown before the answers given arnt always correct EX: number 12 from 24:25

  • @toha9460

24:25 hold up wait a minute am i stupid or is the answer to number 12. 40 and 5/8 because i did the math on paper and got 40 and 5/8 in my head i also used a normal calculator and a fraction calculator and got 40 and 5/8 it looks to me the way they got the answer was multiplying the 3 and the 12 then the fractions and adding them together which is wrong so none of the answers are correct for number 12 in this part of the video

15:07 i was able to figure all these out but learned i dont actually know how to do proper division anymore ive always just known the answer or solved it in my head but i can deduce from the answers given that 8 is 46 because 40x10 is 400 so 46x9 has to be close edit: lol 18:40 bruh i was tryna learn division and u just tell me to multiply this is why i dont know how to do division the education system is teaching short cuts that wouldnt work in the real world without multiple choice

So I took Local 11 LA and 440 OC here in SoCal. This video DOES NOT apply for Local 11. Look up mechanical reasoning and arithmetic solutions on Google with word problems. For 440, THIS is what’s going to be on the test but if you can afford it, iPrep has basically a 1:1 tests of what they have in the actual test. Technically iPrep was harder but prepared me for the aptitude test

Took the test today 05/02/23 and it had 3 easy algebra problems (similar to first question in this video). And the rest was adding/subtracting/dividing/multiplying whole numbers, decimals and fractions. One square root question, around 5 unit conversions. No graphing at all. My test wasn't multiple choice and it wasn't timed. I only studied questions similar to first 15 minutes of this video but id recommend studying everything in the video. We also didn't have a reading part of the test. I guess every local is different.
